According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, Reiki is a complementary health approach in which practitioners place their hands lightly on or just above a person, with the goal of facilitating the person’s own healing response. Reiki has been studied for a variety of conditions, including pain, anxiety, fatigue, and depression.
Reiki is a Japanese practice where the Reiki practitioner tries to transfer healing energy to a person’s “biofield,” or the energy field just outside a person’s body.
